The Australian Silver Koala Coin is one of Perth Mint’s best-selling coin programs. Introduced in 2017, the series once featured a total of three weights, but currently sticks to the release of 1 oz silver and 1 kilo silver coins. Silver Koalas were introduced in 2007 by Perth Mint. The coins were first available in 1 oz silver and eventually offered in 10 oz and 1 kilo weights as well. More recently, the series has been trimmed back to just the 1 oz and 1 kilo coins.
Like the other coins in Perth Mint’s lineup of flora-and-fauna-inspired coins, the Australian Silver Koala comes with a new reverse design element each year. These designs capture the koala in different motifs each year and this year’s design, for the second year in a row, comes from Ing Ing Jong.
Queen Elizabeth II makes her final appearance with the 2023 1 Kilo Silver Koala Coin release. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. The Queen is captured at the age of 89 in this design that was created in 2015 by Jody Clark.
Two koalas are shown in the reverse design of 2023 Australian Silver Koala Coins. This year’s design shows a mother koala climbing up a tree branch as her young joey clings to her back. The koalas are shown on a gum tree in this particular design.
These 2023 1 Kilo Australian Silver Koala Coins are available to you with individual acrylic capsules for delivery. These coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and come with an unlimited mintage for the year, meaning Perth will strike the coins until the next design is ready for the 2024 release.
