Leopards (Panthera pardus) are widely distributed across Africa, inhabiting various habitats ranging from dense rainforests and savannas to mountainous regions. They have the widest geographical range of any big cat species in Africa.
Leopards are medium-sized big cats with a distinctive spotted coat. Their fur varies in color from light yellow to deep gold, with rosettes (spots with a central dark spot) or solid black spots covering their body, providing excellent camouflage in their environment. Their powerful build and muscular body enable them to be agile climbers and swimmers.
