The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf was one of the earliest silver bullion coins available to investors. Introduced in 1988, the coin was the first in the world to feature .9999 pure silver content. Canadian Maple Leaf Coins debuted at the Royal Canadian Mint in 1979 with the introduction of the 1 oz gold coins. The series expanded to include various additional gold weights throughout the 1980s and 1990s. The Silver Maple Leaf was introduced in the midst of this period of expansion, debuting in 1988 alongside the Platinum Maple Leaf.

On the obverse of 2010 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is a depiction of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is shown here in right-profile relief without a crown on her head, one of the few effigies of Elizabeth II to lack a crown. This design was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt and began appearing on Canadian Maples in 2004.
The reverse side of the 2010 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf Coin comes with the iconic sugar maple leaf. Created in 1979 by Walter Ott, this image of the sugar maple leaf offers a natural, front-facing look at Canada’s iconic emblem.
