Gold Eagle coins from the United States Mint feature one of the most iconic Lady Liberty designs ever to grace an American coin. During the first two decades of the 20^th century, the United States underwent a massive movement to modernize the imagery on its coins. President Theodore Roosevelt was largely responsible for the start of this movement, commissioning Augustus Saint-Gaudens to create new images of Liberty for the Pre-33 $10 Gold Eagle and the Pre-33 $20 Gold Double Eagle.

On the obverse of 2025 American Gold Eagles is the image of Lady Liberty created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. His design shows Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The background includes sunrays, a ring of stars, and the U.S. Capitol Building. This design first appeared on the $20 Gold Double Eagle from 1907 to 1933.

The reverse side of the 2025 1/10 oz Gold Eagle Coin boasts a modern design from Jennie Norris. Created in 2020 and introduced in July 2021, this design represents the first change to the bald eagle on the reverse in the program’s history. The image shows the head of the bald eagle in left-profile relief.
