Currently, 2009 1 Kilo Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins are available to you for purchase online.

  • Contains 1 Kilo (32.15 Troy oz) of .999 pure silver.

  • An effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse.
  • A kookaburra features in the reverse design.
  • Artwork by Darryl Belloti.

One of the easiest ways to identify a kookaburra is by its call. Even if you can’t see it, if you hear a distinct laughing sound up the trees, there’s probably a kookaburra perched on a branch nearby. If you live in Australia, your chances of spotting a kookaburra are pretty high, too. These birds are quite comfortable around humans and often build their homes near suburban areas.

These 2009 1 Kilo Silver Kookaburra Coins were struck at The Perth Mint and are considered legal tender under the monetary authority of Australia. Each piece boasts an investment-grade .999 purity and will be delivered inside a protective plastic capsule.

The obverse of 2009 1 Kilo Australian Kookaburra Coins features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This design is credited to Ian Rank-Broadley, an English sculptor who also designed the Princess Diana Memorial at Kensington Palace. The portrait depicts Elizabeth in right-profile relief wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. There are also inscriptions on the obverse reading Elizabeth II, Australia, 30 Dollars.

On the reverse of 2009 Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins, there is a kookaburra design by the artist Darryl Belloti. Here, we see the bird in closeup facing left and perched upon a branch. There are rays of beautiful light shown in the background as well. The reverse also contains a P20 mintmark celebrating the 20th anniversary of this series.
