The obverse bears the familiar right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this fourth-generation image is now outdated with the release of a fifth-generation portrait in July 2015. However, Perth Mint is continuing with the 1998 depiction on all Lunar Series II coins to maintain continuity on the obverse of all releases in the program.
