The first appearance of Britannia on British coins dates back to the Roman period when Britain was a part of the Roman Empire. However, the modern representation of Britannia on British coins began during the reign of Charles II in the late 17th century. Her image has evolved over time, reflecting changing artistic styles and national symbolism.
All of the 2024 1 Kilo British Silver Britannia Coins offered here come inside individual acrylic capsules. These coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and are available for just the second time in the program’s history. Gold Britannias debuted in 1987, followed by Silver Britannias in 1997.
Obverse visuals on 2024 British Silver Britannia Coins include the image of King Charles III. His Majesty is shown here in left-profile relief and is depicted without a crown on his head. Martin Jennings created this visual in late 2022 for use on British coinage following the passage of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Reverse design elements on 2024 1 Kilo Silver Britannias feature the allegory Britannia. A symbol of Britain’s determination and naval prowess, Britannia is shown in a coastal region with a trident in one hand, the Union Jack shield in the other, and a Corinthian helmet on her head.
