The 1 Kilo Silver Libertad was first issued in 2008. The Kilo Libertad was struck annually through 2012, but not issued in 2013 or 2014. Since 2015, it has been back in regular production. The highest mintage recorded for this weight came in 2011 when 6,000 coins were sold.
The obverse of 2024 Mexican Silver Libertads comes with the image of the Mexican coat of arms. In fact, this side features 11 versions of the national seal. The central design is the modern coat of arms with the golden eagle on a prickly pear cactus as it battles a serpent. Around this design, you’ll find 10 historic versions of the image that date all the way back to the 1524 Aztec Codex Mendoza image that inspired the Mexican coat of arms.
On the reverse of 2024 1 Kilo Silver Libertad Coins is the effigy of Winged Victory. Also known as the Angel of Independence, she is shown here at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column with her right hand outstretched and holding a laurel wreath while her left hand is at her side clutching broken chains.
